I think with strange, circular logic most of the time, and it’s difficult for me to convey my thoughts, even the most simple, without sounding overly ornate. Most of the time I don’t even talk about much at all. However, I’m trying to use this as a forum for extending my ideas in a more formal, expository fashion.
This is also an outlet to my friends (at least in my mind), with whom I may not be in personal contact with for some time. Currently, I’m a medical student in Taiwan, but I hail from Southern California and miss its wide roads and open spaces. Heck, I even miss the gridlock of traffic, the millions of waiter/actor/models, and the cholos on the street corners.
My personal aspiration (beyond that of the professional) is to be able to sit down with anyone, be it (in no particular order) politician, scientist, fashion model, hippie, hairdresser, bag lady, or thug — and carry on a conversation with them about the details of their lives. I don’t mean it in a journalistic sense, but I’d like to be able to blend in with anyone and be able to understand their lingo comfortably. This aspiration is my motivation for continuing to learn and appreciate the world around me.
Lastly, this is also used as a semi-photography blog, chronicling my hobby. I started off into photography when I bought my own camera in 2007. It was a used Canon PowerShot S3 IS, a very capable camera with much flexibility, enough for many different types of photography. Although I’ve since gotten a DSLR, I still use this first camera extensively, especially when I just walk around. Hopefully, I’ll be able to capture the essence of the world around me, and share it with friends and family.
